This wasn't a prank by SBCS. SBCS are seriously dedicated to a better waste management future for Tasmania and to getting the Tasmanian state government to take responsibility for hazardous waste management, instead of a small council based authority.
The Copping landfill site is in the Sorell municipality and ultimately will become the responsibility of local ratepayers to clean up.
If the Copping landfill site C cell goes ahead it is condemning Tasmania to putting waste into another hole in the ground for the next 20 years, "worlds best practice" liners will not stop future contamination of Frederick Henry Bay. Like the Derwent the southern waterways will probably become off limits to swimming and fishing.
